Welcome to the website for the 4th HCT Maths Conference 2007. This year’s event has expanded its offerings to both math faculty and math students – a first. The conference will run over two days – the first day geared toward students, the second day for maths faculty. The theme for this year’s conference is “Technology in Mathematics Education” or T.I.M.E. Faculty members around the world are asking questions about how new technologies can focus on better, innovative ways to serve students’ changing needs. The roughly shifting landscape of technology in Maths education makes it tough to keep up with change and innovation. At this conference, participants will learn how to stay ahead of the curve. An often overlooked step in adopting new technologies is training teachers and students. This conference sets aside “time” to do just that – learn together. This year we have added, for the first time, a student section so that students can also benefit from learning about changes in Maths education. We have also extended the workshops to include experienced faculty within the HCT system and faculty from the Petroleum Institute. This expanded vision should indeed provide opportunities for all to benefit. We invite you to come, partake, enjoy, and participate with us. The conference will be opened by His Excellency, Shiekh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan at 10:00 am on 16 April, 2007. We look forward to meeting with you in Abu Dhabi on Monday and Tuesday, April 16 and 17. Sincerely, |
